I didn't see anything on the link you posted about him being there and the Spurs first game was 10/30. I can't imagine that Tony would be in France the day before their first game of the season

I guess that about sums it up. I guess if you want a serious answer on this, it's that Tony has never struck me as a particularly good actor, and he looked very much in love and very happy on his wedding day (and subsequently). It doesn't mean much, obviously, but that's where I throw my hat.
As for why someone would do this - easy, peasy. Career boost, boost in name recognition, people looking at your pics, maybe more jobs. The kind of person who would come forward with this, lying or not, is not generally the kind of person who cares about shaming themselves or their family. They are giant attention s.
That's because Tony's "affair" hasn't been labeled "rape".
