Fox News now confirming this story. Fox saying if true, NBA "in deep, deep trouble". Especially since Stern said it was an isolated incident.
Donaghy to share info about other refs with feds

Former NBA official Tim Donaghy will reportedly give federal prosecutors information that will implicate other referees in some forms of gambling activity as part of his cooperation with government officials.
The offenses might not include any criminal activity, but could draw the ire of NBA commissioner David Stern, who has insisted the Donaghy situation was that of a "rogue, isolated criminal."
A report on 1050 ESPN Radio in New York said Donaghy will give prosecutors as many as 20 names of other NBA officials and will detail their involvement in some form of gambling activity. The specifics of the gambling allegations are reportedly believed to include betting in casinos.
"As far as we know, the misconduct was isolated to one individual, and we'll stand by that until proven otherwise," National Basketball Referees Association director Lamell McMorris told ESPN.com's Chris Sheridan. "We'll review whatever information Tim Donaghy alleges, but as far as we're concerned, the only person whose conduct has been proven wrong is Tim Donaghy. We're dealing with truth, not hearsay, and the truth is that the only person who has pleaded guilty to any kind of wrongdoing is Tim Donaghy."
NBA spokesman Brian McIntyre said the league had received no information regarding the possibility of other officials being investigated.
The NBA's collective bargaining agreement with the officials bans gambling by referees, although there is one exception -- officials are allowed to go to the racetrack and bet on horses during the offseason.
Donaghy, who pleaded guilty on Thursday and was released on $250,000 bond, faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced Nov. 9 for conspiracy to engage in wire fraud and transmitting betting information through interstate commerce. He also must pay a $500,000 fine and at least $30,000 in res ution to the government.
Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

I believe that he's just talking about refs who gambled in casinos (not on sports) on their own time (which is still against NBA rules). Not actually other refs who bet on NBA basketball.
But we'll see.
Yep. It has to be this.
If they were doing what Tim D. did. NBA is ed![]()
The NBA has over 20 refs? LMAO
He'll probably be willing to name every ref that cheated on his wife if it will save him some prison time.
So they had the all-star game in Vegas, and the refs weren't allowed to play the slot machines? Ridiculous.
yeah, the way it's being couched so far doesn't make it seem like anything else but this guy ratting out refs who were likely just having a good time betting on nfl or something and not involved with any kind of grand scheme. if that had been the case, now that i think about it, i doubt this stuff comes to light so early for fear of tipping their hand, you know?
If there'd been any indication of that whatsoever, the feds would probably have given that info to David Stern before he made his declaration. That a guy who bet on basketball games that he reffed would attempt to sell out his friends to save his own ass is hardly surprising, and probably won't bear fruit.
But wait, wait, I thought David Stern told us it was just "one rogue criminal"
You would have to be blind or a complete *purs honk to not be able to tell mulitple officials have been outright fixing games for many years. And the league is involved at a much higher level, this is the NBA's Watergate.
By the way, told ya so.![]()
I actually thought the nba stopped fixing games in 2003, but you're right from 2000 to 2002 the nba was ing rigged.
It's amazing that you can type, but you somehow have no reading ability whatsoever. You certainly put the "idiot" in "idiot savant".![]()
If so, the NBA is screwed forever. No joke.
If there were 20 other refs doing what Donaghy did, I will start to think that all pro and NCAA sports is being controlled, or influenced, by gambling interests. Actually I have thought that from time to time in the past. ( usually when my team is losing)
I've always known that the league fixes games in the Lakers favor. Hopefully the truth will come out.
donaghy is just going deeper in the rabbit hole regarding doing shady material. I think he is lying about this one.
I'll never understand why anyone would for one second think that the NBA would fix games in favor of the small market team that they absolutely refuse to promote or endorse in any way. There is no reason the NBA would want the Spurs to win or to be involved deep in the playoffs or finals. If anything the Spurs have become a thorn in their sides because the Spurs don't fit the NBA's stupid marketing strategy.
how many refs are there currently on nbas/mafias payroll atm?? if 20 gets fired, is stern going to hire amatuers? or promote those she-mans from the wnba to ref nba games?
Getting paid 150k-300k a year and you get the best seats in the house every night. Why throw that away.
