tru dat! I've only seen the Pacers play 2wice this year, but they really didn't impress me. But they are still a scrappy team, and I'm sure we'll have to go through them in the playoffs again.
Pacers: 90
Bobcats: 122

Detroit is going back to the Finals this year...book it. I said it before, and I'll say it again. Without Reggie Miller, Pacers lack consistency, leadership, and clutchness. Pacers have lost to Bobcats, Sixers...and a lot of "easy" teams. I know it's early in the season, but a lot of people I think over-rated the Pacers and under-rated the Pistons at the begining of the season.

To you Rasheed Wallace!! (I just read the quote in your sig Pistons<Spurs)...no disrespect to you and the Pistons, but if you could have beaten the Spurs in game 7....YOU WOULD HAVE!

Damn, the Sixers lost to the Bobcats earlier in the season as well. At the moment Detroit is a lot better than the Pacers as the Pistons are playing beyond anyone's expectations. But the season is long and we'll see how things are in a couple of months.
^^True. I still don't think Pacers will reach the finals, as seems to be the popular opinion, for all the reasons I've mentioned earlier. I can see Pacers of Miami in Semi-Finals, and Pistons over Pacers in Conf. Finals.
Rick sounded extremely somber after the game, "they gotta look into their hearts" type of comment, but the Cats shot 53% and Rush went off for 35. I wonder if the Spurs could have beaten the Bobcats tonight.
I don't think the Pacers can make the Finals on current form. Apart from the Pistons, the East looks like a real slugfest between teams that are "nearly there". For all we know, it could be Cleveland and Detroit in the ECF.
But it takes really bad defending to concede 122 points in a game, especially when it's not the Spurs, the Pistons or the Suns.
key stats in the game:
Indy: 26 to's
BobCats: 11-18 3pt (61%) -- 29-32 ft's (90%)
hopefully all this crap talk about the Pacers being the team to beat in the east will stop
Im sure some spurs fans have said the Pacers will be the team to win the East coz they just dont want to be thinking about having to face the Pistons again in the finals (assuming the Spurs make it ).....
Pistons > Pacers
dont be so quik to judge the pacers....they might have lost to some "easy teams" but they also beat some hard ones. i think they will do better than everyone is thinkning right now after this lost. Reggie wasnt there only veteran.
Agreed. Last year, Detroit lost to Charlotte twice and even to Atlanta once .
There were other factors involved in those losses though:
@ Charlotte 11-23-04: 2 point loss. 2 Games after the brawl. No Ben Wallace
vs. Atlanta 12-10-04: No Rasheed + No McDyess = No Frontcourt scoring. Delfino got hurt this game.
@ Charlotte 4-20-05: Last game of the regular season. No Sheed. No Rip. Tayshaun, Ben, and Chauncey all played between 16 and 22 minutes each. They beat our bench.
Totally different than getting flat out destroyed by the Bobcats at full strength. We had HUGE pieces missing during all of those games.

I agree with the idea of the post (no way am I going to write them off now), but i'm not impressed with who they've beaten. Beating Miami twice without Shaq and Posey (and no chemisty yet) is not impressive. Both games came down to the final seconds as well.

Yeah, 'cause the nuggets are going to stop us, right?Pathetic
Yes, the Spurs could have beaten the Bobcats.
Sometimes a high fg percentage is attributed to players having one of those nights where all cylinders are clicking and at other times it can be attributed to a lack of defensive intensity or poor defensive schemes.
The Pistons beat the Celts the other night 115-100 in spite of them shooting 56% from the field.
If you can't stop them entirely at the defensive end make it miserable for them at their defensive end. That's where Flip's offensive philosophy has made the Pistons a bigger threat this year.
I agree with the poster that attributed that blowout in part to the Pacers not having a leader on the team this year.
it is not really who is hot now expect for playoff seedings
it is who is hot after the allstar break and playing with condfience then that matters

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Kareem Rush had come to symbolize the Charlotte Bobcats' offensive woes. He was shooting 34 percent from the field and the Bobcats had shot below 40 percent in three straight games.
All that changed Wednesday night.
Rush scored a career-high 35 points and rookie Raymond Felton added 18 points and 10 assists in his first career start to help the Bobcats snap a five-game losing streak with a 122-90 victory over the Indiana Pacers.
It was the both the most points scored and the largest margin of victory for the second-year Bobcats.
"The pressure was there to keep taking shots but when you're not making them you don't want to take as many," said Rush, who made 6-of-7 3-pointers. "But tonight was one of those nights and hopefully this will boost my confidence where I want to go out there and take tough shots."
Felton, starting in place of the injured Brevin Knight, ignited a 10-0 run late in the third quarter after Indiana had cut a 14-point deficit to 71-65. Felton hit two 3-pointers and fed fellow rookie Sean May with a no-look pass leading to a layup in the spurt. Felton hit another 3 in the closing seconds of the period to give the Bobcats an 89-72 lead.

His steal and layup put Charlotte ahead 93-72 early in the fourth quarter.
"You know what he did first tonight was get his teammates involved," Bobcats coach Bernie Bickerstaff said. "I had a conversation with him before the game and I told him I wanted him to play with passion. You have to be who you are."
Emeka Okafor added 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Bobcats, who shot 53 percent. Charlotte dominated despite being without leading scorer Gerald Wallace (wrist) and Knight, who was a late scratch with tendinitis his left knee.
"I took advantage, I calmed down and ran the team," Felton said. "Everything was clicking tonight."
Ron Artest scored 27 points and Stephen Jackson added 18 for the Pacers, who committed 26 turnovers in their second straight loss.
"We shouldn't even get paid for this game," said forward Jermaine O'Neal, who had 17 points and eight rebounds. "I'm not trying to take anything away from the Bobcats, they played a heck of a game, but we feel like we are at another level. I felt like we were the expansion team tonight. I'm thoroughly embarrassed."
Playing their first game since blowing a 14-point lead in a loss to Milwaukee on Saturday, the Pacers hit their first eight shots in racing to a 19-9 lead.
But Charlotte, playing for the second straight night, woke up in the second quarter, outscoring the Pacers 34-16 to take the lead. Rush made all four of his shots in the quarter, including two 3-pointers. His two free throws gave Charlotte a 56-46 halftime lead.
Rush, who made 11-of-18 shots, surpassed his previous career-high of 30 points set two seasons ago when he played for the Los Angeles Lakers.
"They outworked us and rubbed our faces in it too and they should have," Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said. "We've got some soul searching to do. We have to play these guys again (Friday), which is not going to be any fun based on what I saw tonight."
Notes
Wallace was scheduled to be examined by the team doctor Wednesday night, but Bickerstaff gave no timetable for his return. ... Charlotte forward Melvin Ely missed his third straight game with a shin injury. ... The Pacers were playing their first game in Charlotte's new arena, but Carlisle said players don't have as big of an adjustment as they did when he was a player in the 1980s. "Most of these new arenas have very good color schemes so you don't have depth perception problems," Carlisle said.
It's one thing to lose to a bad team.
It's another to get annihilated by a bad team.
Indiana has issues.
With Indiana sputtering, Shaq slow to heal, and the West looking like a giant ball of suck, the regular season is looking more and more like a formality leading to a Finals rematch.
yeah and last year before the allstar break eveone though the cavs would make it to the playoffs
it is how teams play after the allstar break that counts
seedings are at stake now but if you play great now and not after the allstar break you lose your confidence and go home
if you start slowly and then play great after the allstar break you win get confidence and kick but
see spurs
pacers could have taken this game for granted and got spanked
it could serve as a big wakeup call
Interesting how Kareem Rush had such a hot shooting night, the game after Michael Redd dropped 28 on the Pacers (albeit on a poor shooting night). I didn't watch either game, but don't the Pacers have one of the best perimeter defenders in the game? Was Artest guarding Redd and Rush? With Redd, you can somewhat understand. But, with Rush, don't you start playing him after he hits a few jumpers? 12-15 from the field, 6-7 from 3-pt land?
As you read, Bobcats did not even play their leading scorer Gerald Wallace or their starting point guard Brevin Knight. Now, that would be more disheartening than just losing to the Bobcats. They lost to a 2 year old expansion team without two of their best players. Jumaine Jones did not play either.
I don't know if Tinsley is still hurt or sick, but he again played limited minutes. Anthony Johnson is not a starter in this league. The 26 turnovers demonstrate how badly the Pacers need an effective and healthy Jamaal Tinsley to be running the team.
Free throws hurt them again too. How many times does it need to be said that this Pacer team appears to really be missing Reggie? Perhaps Sarunas should get some more minutes.
Still way to early in the season. Bobcats may be an expansion team, but they do have young talent. Okafor ain't no joke. And, Kareem Rush may not be a starting caliber guard, but he's always had a nice jumper. Sometimes, it only takes the opportunity to excel. Felton was a top 5 pick, even though he has a lot to learn. Great win for the Bobcats. Really disappointing loss for the P's.
the season is too long for this .
Spurs got handed their ass by Wizards. Should we now give up hope of a repeat?
What are you talking about? Of course I know it's a long-ass season...I am just making a bold prediction and if you don't read.
Even though it's only been a few games, Pacers are showing a lot of cracks in their system which I think teams like the Pistons can take advantage of later on..I'm not just basing it on the Bobcats game. Moreover, have you seen the Pistons? They have been awesome, of course I know they're going to lose games and not continue playing this way, and they could have injuries, etc. But, IMO, Pistons>Pacers...and that's just my personal opinion![]()
