Good post Ice Cold ! U.S. Army Alaska 1957-1960. Damn! It was cold.![]()
First off, just wanted to say happy Veterans Day to all of my fellow veterans, and to get an idea of how many we have around here. Also, give us the branch of service you served in and your old/current unit(s) if you want to. I'll start.

My husband just retired this year after 20 years in the army. He was an Airborne Ranger.
No military experience, but my best friend is currently at Ft. Bragg, in the 82nd I believe.
Happy Veterans day to all and a big THANK YOU!! My daughter's school had a really nice ceremony at her school... They even had a vet from WWII that was at the Battle of the Bulge..Very Inspiring way to start the day.. Once again, to all the veterans.Thank You so much for all that you do, and have done for all of us.

I think my old battalion may have been decommissioned, but this was my brigade.
504th Military Intelligence Brigade, 3rd Corps
I have 4 brother's who are all vets. I'm the only one who didn't join, so I'll be taking them all to lunch today.
As for the rest of you here....thanks. Hope you guys have a great day.
Anyone here old enough to have been in WW2?![]()
Not me, but my baby brother - His unit is attached to the 101st Airborne, but he's local to Ft. Sam. At home, he's in the 228th CSH (reservist, in active duty in Iraq for the past year). He's coming home safe and sound by the grace of God, November 29. Sgt. Michael Shepard.
I'm very proud of him.
My maternal grandfather was in the Army Air Corps during WWII - he was on the base when the Enola Gay was launched, but not slated to fly that day.
My paternal grandfather was in the D-Day invasion and later wounded in France.
My paternal grandmother was a sergeant in the WAC during WWII and served in France for awhile, where she met my grandfather.
My husband's best friend, who is true family to us, is in the 82nd Airborne in Ft. Bragg. He was in the first wave to Iraq in 2003 with 4th ID, and will be going back in September (we hope he can get a transfer first - we want him home with his baby boy and lovely wife).
Honor them all.
My father is a Vietnam vet, had two great-uncles fight in WW2, my best friend served during Gulf War I, two others who are like brothers served then and are still serving. A kid I coached years ago just started his second tour in Iraq and I have a brother-in-law there now.
Thanks to them, all of you who posted here and all who have served.
