SEOUL, South Korea (Reuters) -- A South Korean man who played computer games for 50 hours almost non-stop died of heart failure minutes after finishing his mammoth session in an Internet cafe, authorities said on Tuesday.

Lee had planted himself in front of a computer monitor to play on-line games on August 3. He only left the spot over the next three days to go to the toilet and take brief naps on a makeshift bed, they said.
"We presume the cause of death was heart failure stemming from exhaustion," a Taegu provincial police official said by telephone.
Lee had recently quit his job to spend more time playing games, the daily JoongAng Ilbo reported after interviewing former work colleagues and staff at the Internet cafe.
After he failed to return home, Lee's mother asked his former colleagues to find him. When they reached the cafe, Lee said he would finish the game and then go home, the paper reported.
He died a few minutes later, it said.
South Korea, one of the most wired countries in the world, has a large and highly developed game industry.

I didn't binge on Madden, but I did play yesterday for about 5 hours (off-and-on) until class, then came home, ate dinner, played another 4 hours, then stopped, cleaned my apartment and showered before going to sleep.
It had to be in Asia...
There's hardcore video game fans over there... I wouldn't blame them, they have more advanced than we do.

Video games aren't that good to die over.
He died from exhaustion, not videogames. He could have stayed up drinkingand partying with his friends for 50 hours, and he would still have gotten that heart attack.
Video games still arn't that great. Doesn't change my opinion.

actually, we had a case like this in the states about a year ago. A mother found her 42 year old son dead in the basement after playing something like 80 straight hours of video games.She is suing Nintendo. True story. Look it up.

BATON ROUGE, LA. A Louisiana woman is suing Nintendo, alleging her 30-year-old son suffered seizures after playing video games for eight hours a day, six days a week.
The lawsuit filed in federal court says the man died last year after hitting his head and mouth on a table during one of the seizures. It claims the man never had seizures before buying a Nintendo-64 player in 1999.
His mother is seeking unspecified damages for her own medical and funeral expenses, for mental and emotional anguish, and for her son's lost future earnings.
A spokesman for Nintendo is declining comment on the lawsuit. In court records, the company denies any wrongdoing.
I think it's pretty funny that she wants damages for "her son's lost future earnings".
