It's difficult to understand. Duncan and Dice were in foul trouble, Bonner shots like crap and Splitter gets 4 mpg.

25 minutes. Bonner gets a minute of playing time for every minute he sucks off Pop. Embarrasing.

    Dear Matt Bonner,

Thank you for your dead eye shooting throughout the season. Alot of the Spurs #1 record is bc of your great contributions from beyond the arc. That Miami game we won by 30 was fun...your 6 3 pointers made it a great game to watch.

Since then, however, you are shooting 12 for 50 from 3 pt land. Now I now you can smell the playoffs are just weeks away and that is obviously the reason for this decline. No worries...it was expected from us Spurs fans, but now if you would just have a seat on the bench while the REAL season begins, that would be greatly appreciated.

The more important number is actually -5.

I still think Pop has some good wine in his gatorade bottle, Matt probably put in there to keep him drunk so he won't sober up and see his lineup and think, "what the is Matt in the game for?"

I thought it was amazing that Pop kept Bonner in when he wasn't being very productive.

Does anyone know why Jefferson was out during the 4th quarter. Did he get hurt? I couldn't watch the game.

If only Matt Bonner had been given some minutes

With many difficult questions to face going into the long offseason, the Spurs and Gregg Popovich have to be asking themselves, "Where the was Matt Bonner?"
From 2008, but still pretty ing funny anyway.

I don't have the issue with Bonner that some do but when Matt is ice cold like last night why is he not putting Splitter in there? Bonner offers nothing but 3 pt shots. That's great when they are falling but when he can't hit em what is the point of keeping him in there and letting Splitter sit??

I really don't dislike Matt, but you are right, if he is not making shots he is virtually worthless and should sit, that is on Pop for sure.

Obviously Splitter is inexperienced we know that but he can't get no minutes when Matt is cold like that. When Matt is stroking it like he was in the Heat win, yeah i get it you ride the hot hand but last night ...

Splitter plays better D, gives you some post presence and is a better rebounder. Bonner is dead weight when he can't make his jumpshot.. Pop WTF dude???

Oh yes and seeing Scola play so well as always is a nice reminder of what a cluster that was by the Spurs.

in team would have maybe won another ring in the Duncan era if they had paid the money for Scola and not been such cheap assholes..

I agree wholeheartedly with this and have been saying it all along, but that doesn't take much brain power to realize. Any fan can realize that this type of usage of Bonner would be optimal, but Pop is simply too stubborn to veer from this stupid ass system. you Pop.

Where you Pop-huggers? Start spinning the fact that we gave up an all-star caliber player for nothing. Fab may have helped bring us one le, but by giving Scola away, the FO (and Pop, mostly Pop) gave up multiple le-shots.

Where you nut-huggers at? You mutherf*ckers get real quiet when the hits the fan.

Pop's system has been long built on, good guard play, defense and presence in the post. In the early Duncan years it was really just post play, half court offense and good D.. Bowen never would have got so many minutes if he was just a corner 3 shooter who could not defend his ass off.. Yes Tim is no longer the focus but when in that era was Pop ever about favoring someone who just shoots 3's over a guy that has more tools? What does Bonner do better in his system than Splitter other than the 3?? I don't get what it is about Matt specifically at all???

Well you nailed it,best PF of his generation and he could of had a LOT more rings but the Spurs are cheap and honestly didn't draft well.

The big three should have been broken up.Manu should've been traded, notice that he poured it on when the trade possibility was out there.I think complacency has taken hold the last few years on the Spurs.Bonner being resigned was the lazy icing on the cake that no real compe ive spirit was going to infiltrate this team any time soon

But I lay a lot of this on Duncan,he's no leader of a serious perennial contender
Not enough fire and desire to motivate people.

You can thank the abnormal regular season record on Blair's starter hustle and Bonner/Neal and co's 3pt shooting.Spurs caught a lot of people sleeping but now that the league has homed in on the Spurs 3pt shooting as their achilles heel combined w/ Bonner's awkward/slow/low release that is ridiculously easy to disrupt...well you know the rest

Oh yeah, bench McDyess,he's proven to be no starter vs Blair and definitely not over Tiago. And let McDyess retire next year, let Jefferson go.Trade Bonner if you can...

And let Duncan retire seriously,he's been great but clear some salary cap and get us another TWIN TOWER to go w/ Tiago for the future

Well clearly his mentality has changed, it's obvious over the past couple of seasons, but I can't fault him for all of that. Tim is nowhere near what he used to be in terms of dominating. You can't feed the ball to him every night and expect him to dominate the paint. Also, it's probably better that Manu doesn't slash as much during the regular season until towards the end, so he's well rested and not as banged up for the playoffs. These guys are just older and the laws of nature apply to everyone.

I think Pop's regular season mentality, at least in terms of the offense, has been pretty damn solid. Actually, given this past season it's undeniable. But in my opinion they needed to start changing and adopting a different style of play earlier, and yet they still aren't despite the fact the playoffs are right around the corner. In the reduced possessions and pace of the playoffs, it's very hard for a 3 point shooting team to win a championship. They may be lucky to be hot for a few games and maybe get by a team, but they aren't going to beat LA or Boston by relying on the 3 point shot. It's frustrating to see that down the stretch of the season in some of these games, about one third of the Spurs field goal attempts are coming from beyond the arc.

I don't get it..it makes me wonder if the Spurs are all brainwashing each other, and that no one is stepping up verbally on the sidelines and in practice. It's very much a guess, but you can't infer from the Spurs regular play that anybody is challenging their teammates and coach or team as a whole.
