So it's the last preseason game and Bonner is consumed by finding the best sandwich in the land. Folks...this is your starting center.
Please trade him for Foster. Please.
Spurs.com's newest feature with Matt Bonner on his Quest for the Hoagie Grail.

I like Bonner, but hopefully he finds the Quest for the Bench in the last few minutes of games..
Are you kidding me? It's PRE SEASON. The vets have nothing but time to kill. At least Bonner is doing it creatively.
What is he supposed to be doing?
Bonner is a pretty decent writer. I enjoyed the piece.
Trade his ass for now please
This is one of his goals of his going into one of the most important seasons of Duncan's career. I'm so happy his priorities are in order.
Funny. And sets the table for Bonner's mindset going into the season- hopefully he's hungry. No pun intended of course.![]()
nothing like idiotically hating on Bonner like butthurt 14 year olds
I'm not advocating Bonner starting nor being a main rotation guy, but...
Jeez. Overreaction, much?
By your standards, Parker and Ginobili should immediately divorce their wives for daring to have interests outside the game.
Maybe you and him can do it together and write us all reviews before each game. You could be like the "Siskel & Ebert" of sandwiches.
Sure thing boss.
funny... now go get some rebounds...
He's planning on doing this on game day everywhere he goes this season. Like I said, I'm glad that game day is going to be reserved mentally for important activities...like finding sandwiches.
lol like you could get Foster for Bonner. Good luck.
So eating sandwiches on gameday isn't allowed. Gotcha
I still don't get it.
Players have lots of gameday routines. Some may have a nap. Some may play cards or bring out their iPods or game consoles.
Only the incredibly dedicated or obsessed would spend the entire gameday watching film or going over coaching instructions.
If you're going to knock Bonner for not being incredibly dedicated or obsessed, then my original point still stands.
Even Drago was allowed a sandwich the day before fighting Rocky![]()
lets put some subway sandwiches on top of the backboard...THEN maybe the boy will rebound
Considering the quality of a typical Subway sub, that may not be as big a motivator as you expect.
I thought Matt did a pretty good writing job. As a sandwich lover myself, I can see the appeal in looking for the best one from all the towns they visit.
As for this being a distraction from performing on the court, I seriously doubt it. It still amazes me to see the vitriol on this forum for role players like Bonner and Finely who are just doing what they are told to do without a lot of complaining. Funny, but I thought that was what role players were supposed to do.
he just needs to eat a Firehouse sub and call it a day![]()
+1
this is great - my favorite sandwich chain is thundercloud - wonder what matt's SA choice is
People hating on this is interesting. NBA players taking time to connect with fans on Facebook - giving levels of access that simply weren't feasible before blogging and social networking proliferated - and yet people and moan that Manu is facebooking too much and Matt is eating a sandwich.
I think this is cool, and hope he keeps it up - song of the day feature included. this was fun and it takes an hour to go grab lunch and 20 minutes to write up a piece on it for us fans to read. So I don't think it destroys the previous years of practice and all the prep that the team does. And it's not like he's twittering at halftime, either.
I do wish he could rebound and play D like Dennis Rodman, though. That would be great.
