yeah i was just saying in another thread how we're building a triple a club overseas. when these guys get here (if they ever do) they'll either be ready, or be let go.
The Spurs have the draft rights to these guys now:
PF Javtokas 25 yrs old
PF Scola 25
SF Sanikidze 19
C Karaulov 23(?)
PF Mahinmi 18
Scola is supposedly on his way in. Javtokas won't be coming in next season.

Javtokas might come in a year or two. He might never come if his injuries hold him back. If he didn't ride that motorcycle, he'd be here already.
Scola is coming this year unless something drastic happens.
Sanikidze was high on the Spurs last year after the draft. Haven't heard too much lately, but is now playing the French pro league.
Karaulov is the big center who is starting to get run in the Russian Super League. Might never make it over but who knows?
Mahinmi. Knowing how frugal this team is, the fact that they give him first round money is a good sign. If they saw him workout and he is as athletic as some of the reports I've read, it could be another steal.
Spurs are so far ahead of the curve its almost comical now. They have a gang of players out there developing in Europe ... while having a Championship team on the court.
Good Times.
Very Good Times.

outstanding part... we draft a guy who has all that "TUP" and is already talking about growing overseas and coming aboard when ready (like he already knew the company line) while bringing in scola THIS YEAR (who would have been selected at near to below lotto level) pretty amazing.
What's funny is that Mahinmi and Sanikidze play in the same league in which Paris Basket Racing is in. PBR is partially owned by Tony Parker. JUUOT said that Karaulov might be coming to that league too.Sanikidze was high on the Spurs last year after the draft. Haven't heard too much lately, but is now playing the French pro league.

It's definitely a Spurs farm system![]()
That's newsworthy.
PBR is having financial trouble, BTW.
Also of note is that under the new CBA, teams will be able to assign players to the NBDL from their roster. So the Spurs could have a couple prospects on 'farm teams' here in the US as well next season.
Cool.![]()

Man Lance really has the foreign sight like a in' hawk.
Here is an article on this written a couple of weeks ago. Since that time, PBR has appealed the decision and is fighting hard to keep the club playing in the Pro A league. There was apparently some mismanagement of the finances, even after Fleischer and Parker bought in.

Pro A : Paris Basket Racing not allowed to play in Pro A for 2005/06 season - Jun 16, 2005 - by Laurent Sallard
The French League announced last Monday that Paris Basket Racing hasn't provide enough financial guarantees to be allowed to play in Pro A next season.
The team of the French capital has 10 days to appeal the decision to the French Basketball Federation but hasn't made any announcement yet.
An American owner group headed by Tony Parker's agent Marc Fleisher bought the club one year ago. Canadian head-coach Gordon Herbert led Paris Basket Racing to a surprising fourth place but was eliminated by Chalon in the quarterfinals. The Parisian team has no more player under contract and last season PBR's best player C.C. Harrison (194-G-76, agency: Court Side, college: N.Carolina St.) has already signed with Pau-Orthez for the 2005-06 season.
Future of Parisian basketball is unclear which is not good news for French sport in general. Landing the 2012 Olympic Games or hosting a NBA event would be easier if basketball is well represented in the French capital.
Too bad the Spurs gave up a pick this year and next...
So the Spurs could end up paying Tony Parker to get the rights to some of those players.
some fresh news about javtokas? sorry if it was posted before.
he is staying with the same club one more year and get married. the contract is only one year. so it could be javtokas in the nba next

He's a nice option to have but I can't see him as anything other than a 5th big in the NBA.
An update on PBR is that they have until July 19 to provide do entation to the French Federation of Basketball. See below.

Refusal of engagement in ProA: decision on July 22 for Paris Br
AFP - 08.07.2005, 18h45
PARIS, 8 juil (AFP) - the Room of call of the French Federation of basketball (FFBB) pushed back at July 22 its decision about engagement in ProA of Paris Basket Racing (PBR) for the season 2005-2006, up to now refused for financial reasons, announced Friday the FFBB.
The Parisian club has until July 19 with 12h00 to present the "do ents in proof of the firm contracts" of its partners, specifies the Federation in an official statement.
The national Management of the council and the control of management (DNCCG) had refused the engagement of the PBR in ProA on June 1. It confirmed this decision on June 13 after a second examination of the file.
June 17, the Parisian club, which finished the regular season in the 4th place, announced its intention to appeal. According to the newspaper the Team, her debt rises to 1,7 million euros on a budget of 3,3 million.
In July 2004, the PBR had announced its repurchase by a group of international investors taken along by international French Tony Parker, former Parisian and current player driving of play of San Antonio Spurs in the professional Championship North-American (NBA), and chaired by its American agent Marc Fleisher.

I've heard of this place "Europe". It's where the history comes from, according to Eddie Izzard.
Has anyone here ever been to a European basketball game? What is attendance like over there?
