Ok, the thread le is a little much.
Evidently, the Republican candidate for Vice-President believes that Alaska should vote on whether to secede from the U.S. ABC News has confirmed that Sarah Palin was a member of the Alaskan Independence Party in the 90's.
The platform of the party is as follows -
Here is a clip of a discussion at the AIP State Convention. The Vice Chairman of the AIP, Dexter Clark, says this of Palin:
Statement starts at 6:00
In this clip Dexter Clark, the Vice Chairman from the AIP talks about the necessity of infiltrating the major national parties in order to further the goals of the AIP.
I don't know how much there is to this, but it is interesting that in this clip, when Palin is asked about the possibility of becoming VP, she responds "We wanna make sure that that VP slot would be a fruitful type of position, especially for Alaskans, and for the things we’re trying to accomplish up here for the rest of the US, before I can even start addressing that question." (statement at 3:50)
I guess Governor Palin only wants to be VP only if it's a good thing for Alaska.

I like Texas too, but I'm not advocating for us to be our own nation.
This is like having one of the Republic of Texas guys running for Vice-President.![]()
Thanks for proving she has more international experience than Obama...
The EARLY diggings on Palin are unearthing a lot of stuff. There's probably lots more to come.
She wouldn't be the first VP pick to be forced to withdraw. Harriet Meiers II.
McSame has screwed up in the SAME way that dubya screwed up.
Again, picking her says a lot more about McFlummoxed's risky, unvetted, critical executive decisions than it does about her, who would as irelevant and ignored like most other VPs.
Palin: Trying to start her own country in 1992
Obama: President of the Harvard Review in 1992
No contest...
Ha. Nice.![]()
So she's a flip-flopper?
![]()
Apparently she is. I'm surprised it took this long for her to earn that le <and I had to play a part in it, ugh>![]()
lmao the political forum is so great today. The conservatives are scrambling and its quite entertaining to watch.
Ladies and gentlemen, we're watching something historic. I don't know if this woman lasts the rest of the week. It's perfectly amazing.
, I've seen it as just the opposite. The libs have absolutely blown a gasket over this woman, and are scouring the 4 corners of the earth to find something to attack her with.![]()
I guess they didn't have to go very far. It's only been 72 hours since the announcement.
And about 71 more hours than the McCain campaign bothered to put into researching their potential VP pick.
Bringing up a politician's past=Obama's worst nightmare

If you're an Obama supporter then I suggest you stay away from all the candidate's pasts.
It's been coming out like a geyser. It's so fast I'm not sure anyone knows what to do with it.
The RNC and hurricanes may cover it up, but damn.
was a member of his church.
End of Story.

Other than the Daily Kos lie, there have been no surprises sprung on Palin. She's been in politics for a bit, so I would assume that she was prepared for the attacks she and her family would be subjected to <although for the life of me I don't understand why anyone would willingly put themselves in that position>
Nothing historic here.
Please let me know if you come up with anything important.
"Oh noes! Palin was a former member of the Alaskan Independence Party! Oh noes!"

William Airs, Professor Kalidi, Toni Resko, Reverend Wright, the mysterious birth certificate, Frank Marshall Davis being an identified member of the Communist Party USA and being a close mentor of Obama in Hawaii.
I would guess all the candidates have had associations they now regret.
So liberals encourage francophones to have Quebec separate from Canada, encourage East Timor to separate from Indonesia, Biden wanting to par ion Iraq into three separate countries, but it is wrong for Palin to once believe in Alaska independence. What hypocrisy!
