Preview: San Antonio Spurs vs. Oklahoma City Thunder – Game #59

After more than a month away from the Frost Bank Center, the San Antonio Spurs return from the 2025 Rodeo Road Trip tonight to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Last night, the Spurs ended the long road trip with an exciting win over the Memphis Grizzlies that was punctuated with a De’Aaron Fox game-winning jumper with just a couple seconds remaining. Rookie Stephon Castle led the way for the Silver and Black with 24 points, seven assists and three rebounds.

With the win, the Spurs improved to 25-33 on the season, which has San Antonio in the 13th spot in the Western Conference.

At 48-11, the Thunder sit atop the West. Oklahoma City has a ten-game lead over the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference standings. Only the 49-10 Cleveland Cavaliers have a better record than OKC.

San Antonio Spurs Injury Update

Charles Bassey will miss another game with his latest knee injury. In the last month, the center has only been able to play in three games due to knee injuries.

Without Bassey, the coaching staff has given extended minutes to Jeremy Sochan at center. Additionally, Sandro Mamukelashvili is playing more than he did previously.

Oklahoma City Thunder Injury Update

Of course, Victor Wembanyama is out for the Spurs due to a blood clot in his shoulder. Wembanyama’s rival on the Thunder, Chet Holmgren, will also miss tonight’s affair. Holmgren, who is averaging 15.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game, is missing the contest due to an ankle injury.

Joining Holmgren on the sidelines will be Isaiah Joe and Ajay Mitchell. Ousmane Dieng is listed as questionable with a wrist injury.

San Antonio Spurs Starting Lineup

Since the Spurs are coming off of a win, expect acting head coach Mitch Johnson to go with the starting five of De’Aaron Fox, Chris Paul, Devin Vassell, Harrison Barnes and Bismack Biyombo.

Last night against the Grizzlies, it was actually the bench that stole the show for the Spurs. Stephon Castle, Keldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan and Julian Champagnie combined for 71 points and shot 26-for-46 (56.5%) from the field and 8-for-15 (53.3%) from three-point range.

Betting Guide: Spurs vs. Thunder

The Thunder are favored by 13 points and the over/under is 238.5 points. The smart money is on the over. This will be De’Aaron Fox first true home game at the Frost Bank Center. With Fox amped up, the Spurs should be able to put plenty of points on the board.
