Preview: San Antonio Spurs at Houston Rockets – Game #57

On the second night of a back-to-back, the San Antonio Spurs will try to snap their three-game losing streak when they take on the Houston Rockets. For the Spurs, who hold a record of 24-32, this is their second to last game of the 2025 Rodeo Road Trip. Thus far, San Antonio is 3-7 since leaving San Antonio at the beginning of February.

The Rockets enter the ballgame with a record of 36-22. Houston has the fifth best record in the Western Conference, slightly behind LeBron James, Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Earlier in the season, the Rockets were flying high with a record of 32-14. However, they lost six straight games and then went 4-2 in their next six contests.

San Antonio’s last two losses were demoralizing defeats in New Orleans against the Pelicans. After losing on Sunday 114-96, the Spurs lost last night 109-103. In both games, the Silver and Black squandered big leads in the first half.

San Antonio Spurs Injury Update

Of course the biggest two names in the Spurs organization with health issues are Victor Wembanyama and head coach Gregg Popovich. Both individuals are expected to miss the rest of the regular season. Wembanyama is dealing with a blood clot in his shoulder, while Popovich is still working his way through a mild stroke he suffered in November.

Joining Wembanyama and Popovich on the injured list is Charles Bassey. The center is once again on the sidelines due to a knee injury. While the injury isn’t thought to be serious, San Antonio hasn’t provided a concrete timeline for Bassey’s return.

San Antonio Spurs Starting Lineup

After a pair of painful losses, interim head coach Mitch Johnson may consider altering the starting five. Currently, the five starters are De’Aaron Fox, Chris Paul, Devin Vassell, Harrison Barnes and Bismack Biyombo. Of the five, it can be argued that Biyombo is playing at the highest level — which is notable because he’s only on a ten-day contract with the Spurs.

If the coaching staff shakes up the starting lineup, possible players who could move up include Jeremy Sochan and rookie Stephon Castle.

Betting Guide: Spurs at Rockets

The Rockets are favored by nine points and the over/under is 228.5 points. The smart money is on the under. Both teams are playing their second game in as many nights. San Antonio’s offense has looked ugly lately and Houston is one of the best defensive teams in the association.
