Wemby seems to be barely scratching the surface of what he could do with better anticipation and pos ioning too.

    Happy Birthday Victor

What a birthday game, living legend Wembanyama took over the 4th quarter. Future is bright for Spurs fans!

One of the nastiest blocks I have ever seen in my life. Giannis going downhill full head of steam, bumps Victor, and still gets his rejected. Can't recall ever seeing anyone stop Giannis like that.

If he was actually playing 36 minutes with these stats he'd be in the MVP discussion.

What I see here is “fool me once, shame on you”. Giannis bumped Wemby hard earlier in the game to create space and score inside. The next time Wemby said, “fool me twice, no effin way”. So basically he is just gaining the experience and learning each veteran opponents’ tactics and dirty tricks. It’s not that he can’t stop anyone physically, the answer is yes he can even though he is only a much too skinny “over hyped bust” at this stage of his career. According to the haters.

Wait is that Giannis' hand on Victor's face in the block photo?

Guess the shoulder slam wasn't enough so he had to shove Wemby's face too and still got rejected.

Three fingers on Victor's cheek like bro at least take me out to dinner first

That block pic is such a textbook snapshot of a fundamentally clean block. Just all ball and nothing else. Incredible.

Dare I say it reminds me of TD's rim protection.

You can't recall because this is the first time Wemby has played Giannis. He is THE one of one player.

its a phenomenal shot. just captures the absurdity of his length. their shoulders are about equal since giannis is higher in the air, but wemby is still reaching higher despite his arms being angled to try to get to the shot, while giannis' arm is almost exactly vertical

Giannis said something interesting after the game when asked about if Victor needs to get stronger. Giannis' response was and I'm paraphrasing "No he doesn't need to get stronger he's already fine the way he is. He just needs experience and once he gets it, he's going to be great. Putting on muscle not always a good thing it could slow him down and make him less fluid."

I can't believe there are still Chet v Wemby debates tbh

If they want to give that Abe Lincoln mfer the ROY award because team success counts all of a sudden for that, then go for it. But there isn't a ing GM alive that would trade Wemby for him

100%. I can guarantee you that the thunder will trade the whole team for Wemby. Just imagine how Victor will look in 3 years if he is still healthy.

wemby's stats since moving to center full time:

*before going 2-8 from 3 against the bucks, he was hitting 35.6% of his threes in this stretch

compared to his stats when he was starting alongside collins:

some of this could also be attributed to him having learned what works and what doesnt and just improving with experience. could also be attributed to end of point sochan experiment. but noteworthy nevertheless imo
