way better than blackbox which i used when i ran winOS
For those of you who don't know, Rainmeter is a skinnable interface that can be used to customize a Windows-based OS to look however you want it.
It's a pretty simple, but very elegantly designed program, and if you don't mind making some (easy) alterations to code, it's incredibly flexible. You can basically make your desktop look any way you'd like.
As of now, this is my desktop, although it will change in the coming days, for sure.
This is a very early draft, and I like the feel of it, but I'm going to change it a lot. It just shows off how sweet the customization is on Rainmeter. Free, and highly recommended!

Wow people still use winamp?
vlc is all i use on any platform. i still know a few people who love the out of winamp though.
If you can name a music player with a better software-based Graphic Equalizer, I'll switch. Winamp doesn't look the best, even skinned, but I'm not looking at my music player anyway. It plays basically EVERY file format out there, and I've found it sounds better than other music players.
Oh, and it doesn't suck down system resources like iTunes does, or feel the need to cover your entire screen to show what's playing. Seriously.... 80+ megs of RAM? To play MUSIC?! Unacceptable.
It also sounds a LOT better with good EQ settings.
Windows Media Player is meh, and I don't use VLC because I like having separate music and video programs.
Winamp is faster than any of the others I've used as well, to start up and close. It's just an extremely compact program that provides great audio quality and a ton of options.

Try foobar2000 if you haven't...
that's what I use, I mean by the looks of this thread, you like customizing... foobar2000 would be great for you :P
take a look at their forums and check out the amazing ppl do with it
They must have debloated it significantly since I last used it 4 years ago.
I can guarantee Foobar2000 is faster than Winamp
I was thinking the same thing about Winamp.
Thats really cool, too bad I don't know anything about code
Good stuff. Need to take some time to play around with things a bit more, though.
I still use WMP.
I'd recommend you try out foobar2000, both of you.. I used winamp years ago, but made the transition to foobar2000 and I haven't looked back.
I tried both. Winamp crashed, and Foobar was too high tech for me.
Meh, I don't like the look of Foobar.
lol that's the whole point of it... you customize it to what you like...
these are meh?

Miro then VLC for me.
Playing with Rainmeter, trying to make it cool... but apparently I'm too much of an idiot
media player classic
My desktop background rotates, making it hard to find a theme that can match anything. Its pretty cool though.
Nice - I'll play with this tomorrow on my commute to school.
Just messing around with this. Cool program. Mine is kind of cluttered but here is what I have.
