It's a weird thought that many of Trump's supporters would serve jail time for the smallest of crimes, yet they're dug in while there's a possibility that he does zero to little jail time. I don't have a problem with anyone initially voting for Trump but now to continue to support this . And I doubt there's any on this board. But damn...to think that he gives a about the little people?

The way I see it is Trump reimbursed Cohen for the payoff to Daniels. That would not be deductible expense. Trump wrote 11 checks out of his PERSONAL bank account to reimburse Cohen. The initial count of falsifying business records (recording the payments as legal fees) only becomes a felony if done in pursuit of another felony. I know on Federal tax forms 1040 Schedule E (supplemental income and loss) is where I deduct legal and accounting fees. Assuming New York forms track Federal forms, if Trump took those "legal fee" deductions on schedule E, there are your second felonies, 11 more times. By taking the deductions of those 11 checks he reduced the taxes he was supposed to pay, thus defrauding the State of New York. That seems to be the path of least resistance for Bragg since all he has to do is produce the Schedule E's which he has.
How does posting the bet settle anything?

indictment is pretty barren. says the falsified records were done for the purpose of concealing another crime, but doesnt set forth exactly what that was
