One last pointless thread before the season starts. I haven't checked the stats, but I think Danny was a little tougher defender. Maybe Bonner had the better shooting touch. Both were slow as icebergs and had had slow releases. You hate on Bonner...would you rather have Ferry circa 2000-2003?

I think this is more appropriate: Who was the better Spur: Jack Haley or Matt Bonner? I say Haley because he was able to calm down Rodman a bit and he knew he was a scrub and the team knew he was a scrub and so he didn't get in the way. Unfortunately for The Admiral, everyone else on the team got in his way.

    Bonner: 1
    Ferry: 1

Number of superstars kicked out due to being in the FO:

    Bonner 0
    Ferry 1

This is a stupid comparison! One is a champion the other a choker.

This lone 31 minute performance with the modest statistics of 6 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal is greater than the entirety of Matt Bonner's San Antonio Spur playoff career.

Matt Bonner is technically a champion. And they both contributed about the same amount to their championship teams.

Danny Ferry was a traffic cone. Matt Bonner has had some of the best defensive advanced stats on the Spurs for a few years now.

The problem is that he can't rebound for jack. I think Leonard's already the second best rebounder on the team.

Massive Fail. With Ferry's Game 2 against the Suns, that series would have gotten ugly. With Robinson hurt, Rose gimpy and Willis suspended, the Spurs needed Ferry to start and to have a good game ... and he was really damn good.

Ferry at least pretended he tried. Plus he played in an era where Pop asked much, much more from the players on the defensive end.

tbh, Bonner has it made. I can't think of one other player that has stolen money from the organization for so long and is liked as much. Maybe Sean Marks. Maybe.

The easy answer is who would you rather take into a playoff series?

Give me Ferry over the choking Bonner. Besides, Ferry's influence has gone on past his playing days. Wasn't he the one to recommend Danny Green to the Spurs. Before that Green's claim to fame was being Lebron's dancing partner. Green did very well last season, and the playoffs until the OKC series.

Ferry wasn't afraid to get physical. Throw a few elbows, push people around, etc. Bonner is a cream puff.

FERRY. That game 2 against Suns was better than anything Bonner had done

When I say "tougher," I don't necessarily mean better defender. Danny played very physical and got under people's skin. Remember how he agitated Camby prompting the roundhouse that failed to connect. Of course Bonner did rough up Garnett, which gives him a few kudos in my book. But Garnett isn't throwing a roundhouse. He'll just talk tough and then hide behind his teammates or make sure his confrontation is within feet of the refs so they can break it up.

Bonnet can't thrive in pops all offense mentality. Ferry played in pops defensive era. Ferry is clear answer

Pretty sure that's a question, not an answer
