US officials believe ‘total victory’ over Hamas unrealistic: Report
The administration of US President Joe Biden reportedly does not believe that Israel’s stated strategy of pursuing “total” victory over Hamas in Gaza is feasible.

“Sometimes when we listen closely to Israeli leaders, they talked about mostly the idea of some sort of sweeping victory on the battlefield, total victory,” said Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell, according to US news outlet Politico.

“I don’t think we believe that that is likely or possible.”

Campbell said many countries wish to see a “political solution in which the rights of Palestinians are more respected”.

since then 13000+ palestinian children have been killed. hundreds of them in the non-Hamas controlled west bank.

and before oct 7? i dont have time to parse all the information, whether it be from oxfam, amnesty international, human rights watch, UN, israeli media, or the hundreds of NGOs that are specifically dedicated to palestinian children... but the average is about 100 per year for the past 24 years, WITHOUT including armed conflicts such as the current one.

Hamas built tunnels over civilian infrastructure, of course Israelis would ransack civilian buildings to force Hamas out.

Hamas is intermingling with civilians; shame on Israelis for not exercising greater care.

Shame on Netanyahu and Hamas for this cluster that has no winners nor an end game.

The PLO has found a way to move away from violence; Israelis found a way to make peace with neighbors that wanted to eradicate more than once; Hamas is embracing violence

I feel sorry for everyone but Hamas as this is a top notch show.

Helicopter carrying Iranian President Raisi crashes, local media reports

A helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi crashed while visiting a northern region and his condition is currently unknown, Iranian state news agency IRNA reported Sunday.

The aircraft, which was also carrying Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, came down in East Azerbaijan Province and emergency crews have so far been unable to reach it due to foggy conditions, IRNA said. It is unclear what the exact status is of Raisi’s helicopter.

Twenty rescue teams and drones have been sent to the area where the helicopter came down.

The pair along with a group of dignitaries were onboard the helicopter returning from a ceremony for an opening of a dam on Iran’s border with Azerbaijan when it “crashed upon landing in Varzaqan region on Sunday,” IRNA English reported.

“20 rescue teams and drones have been sent to the area, but due to the impassability of the area, its mountainous and forest conditions, as well as unfavorable weather conditions, especially heavy fog, the search and rescue operation will take time,” IRNA said.

IRNA also reported, citing locals, the helicopter crashed in the Dizmar Forest area between the villages of Ozi and Pir Davood. Residents in northern Varzeqan, East Azerbaijan Province, said they heard noises from the area, it added.

Iran’s interior minister Ahmad Vahidi said one of the helicopters was forced to make a hard landing due to foggy weather conditions.
