Who said retiring a players jersey is due to his stats? Can't a team decide to retire a players Jersey on a players off the court activities? or out of just plan old respect?

What if a player had Cancer and helped his team win an NBA Ring for the first time and dies the following year? They don't deserve the honor? Must they have the most steals, blocks, and assists?

Wilt Chamberland had sex with over 500 unwed mothers. Magic Johnson did the same catching HIV, Pete Rose Gambled,OJ killed his wife, and so on... I don't see any of their Jerseys coming down.

This is not the hall of fame people, it's a Jersey hanging on a steel beam.

Do any of you really know what retiring a jersey really means?

Do any of you really know what retiring a jersey really means? In light of recent events, I don't really know anymore.

But it's something to talk about until the games start.

Do you know what the term "racially offensive" means?
Do you know whether your team will sniff the playoffs this year?

I guess Denial is a river @ ST after all?

I think the topic starter should get some sort of an Award for his unbiased assessment on this whole Avery Johnson jersey issue. Do you all have such an award?
