Inside Dish: Sixers won't give up yet on trading Iverson

Expect continued perseverance from 76ers president Billy King despite his recent statement that the team won't trade PG Allen Iverson. Translation: Desperation did the 76ers little good in the marketplace, so figure on a more measured approach until Iverson is dealt sometime in the next few months. . . .
Considering how disinterested PG Jamaal Tinsley seems at times, you'd think the Pacers would have preferred his having a legitimate camp competition with Anthony Johnson, who instead was unloaded to the Mavericks. Johnson, coming off a strong postseason, said he would have had no problem backing up Tinsley, provided he would be given the opportunity to compete for minutes. Instead, the team is continuing to coddle Tinsley. . . .

Although the free-agent market occasionally delivers the likes of SG Fred Jones, in reality Toronto remains a less than enticing destination. Figure on the Raptors' continuing their current course of mining the best players overseas with their spare change. . . .
Unlike the Celtics, who extended a preemptive three-year extension to SF Paul Pierce before he could exercise his opt-out clause after the 2006-07 season, the Nets apparently will wait to make a deal with SG Vince Carter. Waiting, of course, makes it far easier to
