AD and Malik would have been really really nice the last couple of years. AD has been one of the most consistently good backup points in the league since he left, and Malik would have dominated the mavs. I miss them both.

I miss AD off the bench more then I miss Malik.

Though it would've been nice having Malik at our disposal against the Mavs. Minus his huge salary.

I do miss malik 2003. He avged almost 10 points a game off the bench that year, and was still turning it over at a non chode exploding rate.

one wonders if spurs fans grasp why they never had matchup problems with the mavs before this year.

wtf? we had all kinds of matchup problems with them before this year. they never had any interior defense/shot blocking until this year. think that might have been an issue? plus dirk finally made the step into an upper echelon type player. he gave us all sorts of problems before this season...and now he's made the leap.

hahahha. oh yeah, dirk's game changed so that's why the spurs matched up poorly with them. just go.

One wonders why kitties think that Dirk would have had any more problems shooting over 6'5" Malik than he did 6'7" Finley.

one wonders why dune man doesnt recall why malik was the one closing out games against the mavs in the postseason while drob jumped up and down like a schoolgirl

Probably because the Mavs had a shitty coach.

We're supposed to believe that Dirk can shoot over Finley and Bowen but is going to be screwed against a guy that is 4 inches shorter than either one? Riiiiight.

Typical Marcus/vkitten/Sparky/etc.

Actually, yes. That's one reason.

Another being that the mavs added some beef inside and now challenged shots and improved their rebounding prowess.

I'm confused as to why I am going? I'm right.

Malik didn't win that series/game, Nash lost it by CONTINUING to double off of a scorching hot Kerr.

I'd love to have Malik here so he could sit on the bench next to Marks, or Elson, or whoever.

People forget he was in the Perpetual Pop Doghouse before he was traded.

He was done here.

Done I say. Fvckers. Give it a rest.

People are missing the boat on why having a Malik Rose (or A. Walker or U. Haslem) when playing against Dirk.

Dirk can shoot over anybody almost or drive past them. You don't beat him by stopping his shot, but by stopping him from getting to the glass. There is no way that Finley or Bowen could keep Dirk from hitting the glass at both ends of the court, with Malik you at least have a decent shot at grabbing the rebound.

I'd like to have the Will Perdue of 1999. And if it's not too much, I'd like to have the David Robinson of 1995, too.

The only rebounds Malik would be grabbing against Dirk are the occassional missed free throw attempts.

Marcus (and others) think this is still 2001, that Dirk has not learned to be aggressive going to the hoop, and that the rules don't favor him getting to the line every time someone breathes on him. If Duncan was picking up cheap fouls trying to cover Dirk, what do you think would have happened to Malik?

I'm not sure when Malik became this great perimeter defender, or when he suddenly developed the speed to be able to defend people taller and faster than him. He's always played bigger than himself against post players and has done a great job, but he doesn't defend that great outside the paint.

He's a good hustle player who forgot how to hustle. From what I saw of him on the floor with the Knicks last year he looks slower of foot, and doesn't have much elevation anymore. Not the attributes you want in a 6'5" power forward.
