View Full Version : Do the Spurs split/take both/ lose both?

Even though both games have been blowouts in favor of our guys, it's still not safe to say that the series is over. As we all know anything can happen, so what to do you think of games 3 and 4? Do the Spurs win both/1? Or do they come back to SA tied up?

Robz4000

It'll be a split. No idea which one they take but they'll close it out in Game 5.

BillMc
05-09-2014, 05:10 AM
I think it will be a split with the loss more likely to come in game 4. I think after 3 straight wins we may ease up a little on the defense, and Portland is good enough and will be desperate enough to pull out a win in the last game at their place. Then as Robz4000 said, we finish it in 5.

Hope I'm wrong and its a sweep though.

If the spurs lead at half time of game 3 this is a sweep. Damion Lillard is already making comments like a player ready to shut it down.

Lose both. One by a large margin, and one really close where the refs job the Spurs and (insert Blazers player) nails a big shot.

Spurs lose a tight Game 3, win Game 4 comfortably. Or pull a complete 180 and lose both. I'd be amazed if the Blazers get swept.

I'm getting greedy. With how unreal the Spurs offense has been, I want game 3. It would just put an unreal amount of pressure on a coach that is already not performing well and a team that seems to be shocked and highly emotional (they always tout how they are "underdogs" and get so emotional when anyone says anything that is not glowing about them).

Spurs just have to stay focus and execute on the key areas that we have all discussed (rebounding/to's). If they do that, I don't care where they are at, they should at least be in every game which is all you want.

This one feels like 2012 vs Utah. Their best players are star-struck and are having trouble adapting to playoff intensity (the Rockettes don't count). Spurs sweep.

We say things like this every time we go on the road up 2-0 on someone. We have swept twice in each of the last two seasons. A split is definitely the most realistic outcome, but would you really be shocked by a sweep considering how often it has happened of late?

I wouldn't call sweeping the Grizzlies and Lakers "often" especially considering we ended up getting backdoor swept ourselves by OKC just a year before that.

Spurs take both. I don't see the Blazers being able to keep the Spurs as shitty as they were in the 3rd, and even then the Blazers couldn't capitalize. Caveat is if Spurs get injured. I think a fast paced shoot out favors the Spurs, but right now the Blazers haven't found an answer for Tony or Splitter's defense. It could change, but I don't feel like it will.

I think Portland just plays much better at home and our bench has proven already in the playoffs it can shrink. I'll admit there's a little bit of the 2012 Thunder factor playing into my hesitation though.

05-09-2014, 03:20 PM
Obviously we take both. I knew we would sweep this team. They play NO DEFENSE. If you let the Spurs have room to operate their offense, they are going to SMASH you.

Only teams left in the playoffs who can beat Spurs are the Thunder and Heat because their length and athleticism on the DEFENSIVE side of the ball bothers us.

I expect a split. I'm going to be furious if they lose both. I really don't think they'll sweep, and I'm not sure I'd want them too - too much time off is likelier to lead to rust. I can't decide which of game 3 or 4 they are most likely to drop, because it depends so much on how game 3 goes. That is traditionally the one they'd drop I think, but I feel pretty confident they'll drop 4 if they win 3 between easing up, lackadaisical play and desperation from Portland (especially since I expect game 3 to be a lot closer than the last 2).

We've completed 8 series in the last three seasons and swept 4 of them. This is the sixth time we've gone up 2-0 in those years and we've only failed to sweep once in those situations. What does often mean to you?

they are due a good shooting night. some home cooking and you have a blazers blowout of the spurs

the other game will be close and go down to the wire. I say Spurs have a 50% chance of winning that other one. So all in all a 50% chance to split imo

It's more comparable to the 2012 vs. Clippers series if anything.

CP3 = Lillard
Griffin = Aldridge
Jordan = Lopez
Mo Williams = Mo Williams
Kenyon Martin = Thomas Robinson

Mix of Butler, Foye, Evans, and Young = Batum and Mathews.

Game 3 will be one of those home games where they go out and play with attitude and killer instinct, but the Spurs just need maintain focus on defense, use the experience of star veterans players, coaching and leverage tactic.
The Spurs'll be fine nexts road games. Keep the intensity defensive, ball movement and play smart. :flag:
