- Speedy Claxton: best backup PG we've ever had.

- Devin Brown: super pro, really efficient, can play SG and PG, agressive.

- Jax: in my dreams, but man I would love it.

4. Avery Johnson. Great point guard for us back in the day.

5. Malik Rose. He hustled back in 1999.

6. Jaren Jackson. He was clutch one post-season.

7. Will Perdue. He helped us beat the Lakers.

There, that about covers all the Spurs of yester-year.

Lefty, I'm not sure what you mean by Super Pro but if you have 8K plus posts, you should know that the Spurs weren't thrilled with Devin's professionalism.

Speedy Claxton was great while he was here but that season turned out to be the exception to his career. Speedy once heard someone break a pencil in 2 pieces and he immediately clutched his leg in pain.

I actually would be in favor of bringing Devin Brown back to the team. IF he has grown up and gotten serious about his career. I started a thread a few weeks back about the possibilities of bringing Devin and Udrih back. And......I got a little trash thrown my way. It's all good, its a forum. Keep the suggestions coming. :toast

- Speedy Claxton: best backup PG we've ever had.

Had about 15 good games as a Spur, completely overrated by Spurs fans, and is extremely injury prone.

- Devin Brown: super pro, really efficient, can play SG and PG, agressive.

Burned his bridges here by being lazy, late for practice and not really "Spur" like.

- Jax: in my dreams, but man I would love it.

A couple years ago I would have loved him back. Still would take him but there are probably better options.

You know, Samaki Walker once had 13 points, 16 rebounds, and 3 blocks in a playoff game and then had 8 blocks in the next playoff game.

The Spurs could really use a guy who is capable of that sort of performance.

Funny how many people forget little details, like who was injured and who got floor time. The best backup point guard the Spurs have had in recent memory was indeed on the team the season that Speedy was on the roster, but unfortunately I don't think the Suns are going to let the Spurs make him an offer.

I think that's twice as many good performances as Speedy had.

Ok, forget about Speedo and Devon........

But I would not hesitate to take Jax back: he is clutch, he has the attitude, he is a fearless shooter.

I can not stand Finley and his cold shooting anymore (although I still remember that big 3 pointer vs Phoenix in the 1st round)

JAX is more inconsistent then gino, look at the gsw games where he shoots like 10 3's and only make a couple

He wouldn t take as many 3 pt shots in a game as a Spur.

It is GS, everybody shoots 3s there.

SJax has gotten better the longer he's been in the league.....and his defense has too. I'd say he's a decent defender when he's trying to be.

Speedy was on the verge of taking Tony's job and then bam he got hurt as always. He was easily the best backup PG we he played.

DevinBrown, it's all his fault. Talent but lacked the drive.

SJAX, too big of a personality now.

Speedy was on the verge of taking Tony's job ....

That was never the case.

Spurs fans have a weird inflated vision of what Speedy was. He was a decent backup (and yes better than what the Spurs have had since). He had maybe two or three real good games. Other than that, he was just an average backup. He had 2 good playoff games.

Get Anthony Carter back. He once hit a game winning shot against the Suns in 2003.

at the beginning of the year there was serious talk of speedy starting then he went down in the LA game and that was that. hindsight being 20/20 of course that would have been a horrible decision, but it was talked about.
