That's exactly why I worded the bet that way.
Nope, Whisky Dog was very careful in his phrasing:
"Kobe never put up 25 on Bowen in a year that Bowen was DPOY." That is a true statement. Every time Kobe put up 25 or more on Bowen, it was in a year when Bowen was not DPOY.
That's exactly why I worded the bet that way.
The bet was not Kobe scoring 25 points on Bowen when he was DPOY. It was scoring 25 points when Bowen was DPOY. It meant scoring on anybody when Bowen was DPOY. I worded it like that too. 2 things though. 1) Bowen was never DPOY, and 2) as one of the posters here mentioned about the legality of collecting... Like I said, the bet was a farce from the beginning.
As soon as I said yes to the bet.
we may parse this as:
=> In no year (when Bowen was DPOY) did (kobe score 25 points against Bowen)
[here's the transformation from the conditional (A|B) to (A or not B)]
=> In no year did ((kobe score 25 points against Bowen) or (Bowen was not DPOY)).
Since (Bowen was not DPOY) holds every year, Whiskydog's statement is false.

yayabanana,
Go back in the thread, find the post where I told that guy to write something down, and do exactly the same thing I told him to do.
Somehow I thought the practice of retreating to such inanity was generally outgrown around pre-school.
mirror-images!!! Oh the genius!
I bet you actually talk like that too. Wow.
timeline of whiskydog:
- makes bet with another idiot
- thinks he wins bet
- yay! massive pwnage
- but no, someone else points out flaw
- oh noes! reverse-pwned.
- makes generic dork/geek insults
- gets insulted back
- damn...gotta come up with something snappy
- 15 minutes later ... "I bet you actually talk like that too. Wow."
Dude, get help.
this would be another memorable addition to the whiskydog timeline, but I try not to do the whole "shooting fish in a barrel" thing.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz At least the other guy was amusing.
Like I said, when the Lakers are done with the Spurs, I will own this place!!!!!
And there's your answer. Can the Lakers play better than the Hornets? What do the Spurs have to do to win? Lead by 20? Oh wait. They did!!!!
Bowen will shut down Kobe, huh? ahahahahahahahahahhaahah!!!
First, this thread. Soon, this place. hahahahahahahahhahahahaha!!!!!
LWO at full force
better recognize
The Lakers are 9-1 in the playoffs when Kobe doesn't have an injured back forcing him out of the game.
I'm surprised so many Spurs fans are cavalier about this team not being very good.
gave up that incognito ?
Yeah, thanks for keeping me in check.
Go Lakers!
Looks like this series will boil down to something along the lines of the last series. Home team wins everything except game 7.
If anyone can pull of a tough road game, it is the Spurs.
We'll see.
I've never seen an MVP candidate fold up and disappear as quickly as Paul did in that Game 7 AT HOME no less...
He looked like a total pretender as an MVP candidate that day.
If this series finds its way to a 7th game, and I honestly don't think it does, there is no way that Kobe disappears like that. More likely, he takes over and guides the Lakers into the next round.
Wow, West was way overrated in that series.
He had a good game, then a bad game, then a good game, then a bad game.
Highly inconsistant. He had 3 games where he only scored 10 points. He did average about 20 PPG, but you all make it seem like he averaged 40+
