They laid their hearts out in the ACCCG and were rewarded by dropping in the rankings. The season was over. I'm not surprised they chose to skip the glorified spring game. Hopefully the TV ratings bombed.
CFB has chosen to become like College Basketball. Where only the final 3 weeks of the season matters. Wonder how many hungover football fans will ultimately be engaged tomorrow.... to watch 4 teams that haven't suited up in over a month.
I'll take this system over split champions and teams claiming national championships that they didn't win.
I wanted the young men to all suit up and play for the school, their teammates and the fans that drove/flew out for the game. Unfortunately it seems increasingly our society has different priorities & motivations.
The bigger Florida schools seem to have toxic football programs. They definitely have a frontrunner mentality. When things are going great, they are all in. The minute they hit the slightest speed bump, they start jumping off the wagon. FSU, Miami, and UCF all came not to play in their bowls. Props to Florida A&M and even South Florida. They came, competed, and dominated.
I do not expect you to always win your bowl game, but I do expect you to come in, give a damn, and compete. , your school is making a nice chunk of change just to show up. Plus, the players get a few days to do some fun off the field stuff, and even get gifts.
NCAA also needs to fix its schedule. They need to keep the transfer portal closed until after the National Championship game. I know that is difficult, with spring semesters starting up again right after, but maybe do not take a month off before the playoffs. if you start the playoffs immediately after the Conference Championships, the season can be over before January or on News Years Day.
Then, they could open the portal immediately. This would give all of those players 2 weeks before the semester starts to find a new school. Most of them would already have their new school ready to go.
Players have been skipping bowl games for a couple decades.
I disagree blaming it on Florida schools. Toxic programs? FSU just laid it all on the line in the ACCCG with a 3rd string true freshman. It was a historic defensive performance to secure the Conference le for first time in 9 years.
FSU lost their team leader to horrific ankle injury.
Regrouped to Win at the Swamp and Conference le. That's the opposite of toxic. Poor evaluation.

After watching just the first half of MI v AL, I think we can win the whole thing if…
We can somehow beat Washington. Our best safety will not be allowed to play the first half.
I am skeptical of our secondary against the Wash. receivers and Penix.
