Russia just does not quite have the resources to fight a prolonged war here. The russian professional army has made some advances from where it was at the beginning of the Chechen war, but still has to be augmented by conscripts, who are not nearly as motivated as the people lining up to volunteer to kill Russian.

Here's hoping that Ukraine can bog down the that's going to eventually descend on them. Conscripts or not, this is only a fraction of Russia's capability.
