The Twitter account for the Food and Drug Administration has started promoting propagandistic announcements lauding the Trump administration’s “achievements” in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic —
shortly after President Donald Trump appointed a gun-loving former reporter for One America Newsas the agency’s spokeswoman.

“Another achievement in [the Trump] administration’s fight against pandemic.”
Miller’s work as a right-wing journalist over the years in which
she fabricated quotes from former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton,
while also pushing conspiracy theories about the Obama administration trying to “track law-abiding citizens” with its promotion of “smart gun” technology that
would allow guns to be fired only by authorized users.
Miller is also the author of a book led, “Emily Gets Her Gun… But Obama Wants to Take Yours.”

Some Trump administration claims on effectiveness of convalescent plasma are wrong or dubious
The assertion was breathtaking: Out of 100 people who suffered from the illness caused by the novel coronavirus, 35 were saved by the injection of antibody-rich plasma from people who had survived the disease.
That’s how Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Stephen Hahn described the blood product’s effectiveness

The FDA commissioner appeared to have mixed up absolute risk reduction and relative risk reduction, which are basic concepts in economics and in the presentation of data from clinical trials.
“I’m absolutely incredulous,” said Peter Lurie, a former top FDA official and now the president of the Center for Science in the Public Interest.
On Monday night, Hahn in a tweet acknowledged he had misspoken during the news briefing about the findings of the convalescent plasma study.
The criticism is entirely justified,” Hahn wrote. “What I should have said better is that the data show a relative risk reduction not an absolute risk reduction.”

So he misspoke. Not a big deal.
The effectiveness of convalescent plasma is quite obviously a thing. During the first few months of existence, unborn children in their mother's womb receive antibodies from their mother via the placenta. It's called passive immunity as they are not making the antibodies themselves. This is a similar effect.
Convalescent plasma was a proven treatment even back in the day of the Flu pandemic. There should be no controversy about it's usefulness. We can discuss how effective it is, but there's no doubt that's better than nothing at all.

This strikes me as being kind of a big deal. The US Chamber of Commerce is maybe the biggest lobbyist out there and is a weather vane for the business community generally.
When was the last time the US Chamber of Commerce endorsed the Democratic candidate for President?
