yeah, plus it's another guy from south of the border coming across and causing a burden on the US taxpayers.
to play in the summer bull games but it's not for parker, manu, and timmay?
Aren't the Spurs paying Splitter?
Dude isn't very good...you all are jacked up high for no reason...typical Popsniffer fans...
yeah, plus it's another guy from south of the border coming across and causing a burden on the US taxpayers.
yeah but hes white so its okay its not from what direction its the shade of skin!! canada has a rent a cop working their border lines but mexico has navy seals and rangers make sense yet?
guy is going to make 3 mil a year.... I don't understand why everyone keeps saying this. Nobody is making him out to be the next Tim Duncan hence he didn't get more money.
@SEQU even though your toying with us ill answer its cause pop hasnt conditioned his brain yet, see hes thinking the spurs are so nice and lovely until he starts watching video then pop starts the conditioning process and slowly gets them not to do that anymore! or maybe its because hes younger haha
When Splitter playing those pick n roll
I can already see Manu smiling![]()
U mad little man?
He's young and healthy now, is why. Give him 3 years in the PopnBonner system and he'll be ground to dust with all sorts of knee & ankle issues and needing all his summers off just to be able to limp into training camp
Hungry? Grab a Snickers!

By nobody, do you mean everybody on this forum???
I wasn't too impressed with Tiago's offense today, but his D was good. Working with a world class coaching staff/players should do him good.
Not a bad game from our boy Splitter today against some pretty stiff compe ion in team USA. I was at work so unfortunately didn't get to watch it, if anyone saw it how did he look? His stat line seems pretty good against NBA Ballers but productivity goes beyond the stat line....
30 minutes
13 points on 50%
10 rebounds
3 assists
2 steals
1 block
Production like that would mark the best stats by a Spurs centre since the Admiral set sail by far! Great stuff by Tiago. If he could produce like that for us the Twin Towers will be back in action. Anyone have any specific notes about Tiago from this game? Passing, post D, pick n roll D? Yes i did notice a few to many turnovers... Can't wait to see him in silver and black![]()
He will have no trouble scoring or defending, but don't expect him to pull down anything more than 8 boards a game.
I agree with 100%. Unfortunately not everyone thinks so. It seemed like he found an opening slipping the pick and roll. I can't wait to see Parker and Ginobili getting the ball through those tight spaces. the brazilian back court didn't see it. Splitter and Duncan are going to be starting together at the end of the season IMO.
I think he can close out the NBA three and recover if they drive by. He just needs to stay out of foul trouble...I have a felling it will get worse at the NBA level.
Overall, I was pretty impressed with what I saw. My 2 cents on Tiago's performance:
Has a very sound post-game. Good footwork and back-to-the-basket dribble, and is able to go over either shoulder. Seemed to have a nice bag of tricks and was able to use pumps, fakes, and footwork to get to the basket on a few occasions.
That being said, definitely more of a finesse post player. There were a number of times when he went up soft and got rejected, or threw up floaters which looked awkward for a big man. His only dunks came on the end of pick and rolls (which Brazil was using constantly), but as I've noted before, he had good motion in the offense and was constantly looking to set picks and cut to the basket.
Defensively, he had some nice moments in the post. Gets his hands up and seems to hold his position well. He was foul prone through the game, but most of his fouls came on trying to stop penetration by the guards. Seemed to have a good nose for rebounds, but wasn't crashing the offensive glass very hard (though this is probably strategy to defend the US fast break).
Also, seemed to be a very heady player. Twice he was able to point out a foul before the official was able to blow the whistle (Odom stepping on the line and Durant's offensive interference) and virtually prompted the call. Showed decent passing out of the post as well. He seemed to have good success going against Odom and Chandler, but for some reason Brazil went away from him toward the end of the game, even though Odom was winded.

Good or bad news for us :p? He didn't say he "looks very good for us"! hahaha i'm probably over-analyzing this one
He's becoming a real american. Can't get his teammate name right.![]()
Why is it you're four feet tall and start so many threads?
Splitter looked good. Not the type of player I was suspecting considering how he was hyped but a solid role player. He's not Scola, but he'll help the Spurs.
Offense - can score in the post but takes too long for him. That dribble, dribble, dribble approach (announcer called it accurately as a 'Charles Barkley') doesn't work in the NBA. And again, that was on a lighter opponent in LO (who he did abuse). Didn't do much against Chandler. He moved very well off the pick/roll.
He'll do the dirty work on O but he's not a scorer. Didn't show a jump shot either.
Defense - Solid post defense (although Team USA doesn't have any good post players) but he'll be attacked and pick up a lot of fouls next year. Good help defender but not NBA-elite size so he's not going to block a lot of shots. Not going to get a lot of steals like Nene either.
My guess on next year - an Udonis Haslem-like impact. 25 min, 9 pts, 7-8 boards, .5 blocks per game.
Impact - it helps SA in that they have another big defender so its not just Duncan. He's not great but solid, and that may keep Duncan's legs fresher. But he's far from a savior or championship piece. Just not the offensive threat. But considering the price paid, he wasn't expected to be.
Splitter embarassed both Odom and Chandler.
Chandler committed 3 fouls on him in 5' and was removed.
Most importantly, Splitter can dribble, passed very well and helped in the early pressure defense the americans were trying initially: after a couple of quick passes resulting in easy layups, K ordered to sit back on defense.
Splitter had 2 quick fouls and a third inexistent, early in the 3rd.
The PnR with Marcelihno was a beauty all game long.
He is a very intelligent basketball player.
He is 5 kilos and a mid-range jumper from 15 and 10.
Ah, so you are going from "Splitter is an Euro " to "give him 3 years and he will be done".

yall do know that splitter plays almost all game every game right ? dude gets like 2 minutes rest a game he looked tired as but he still was ballin on odom and chandler and them ...
What I liked from Splitter from seeing him play was not the scoring. It was the pick and roll defense and passing the basketball. International bigs who have made the NBA and were extremely successful were players who could pass the ball.
Guys like Vlade Divacs, Arvydas Sabonis, Pau Gasol are all good passers from the post. Not saying Splitter is as good as a passer as them, but he will be fairly successful in his own right.
He kept them in that game, period.
