Nearly 20 officers were in a hallway outside of the classrooms at a Texas elementary school for more than 45 minutes before agents used a master key to open a door and confront a gunman, authorities said Friday.

The on-site commander believed the gunman was barricaded in a classroom at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde during Tuesday's attack and that the children were not at risk, Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steven McCraw said at a news conference.

“Of course it was not the right decision. It was the wrong decision,” McCraw said.

So beyond ed up holy . Were they standing outside for that long listening to gun shots go off or was all the shooting done when they were standing there? If they were standing there for 45 minutes listening to gun shots go off I don't see how the on site commander decided to just sit there. Won't be shocked to hear the on site commander offs himself down the road.

Now DPS says that the shooter entered the school unobstructed after firing on it from the outside for about 10 minutes.

There were no good guys with guns who tried to stop him, if this new timeline revision can be believed.

After climbing a fence into the school’s parking lot, he fired at the outside of the building before entering through an unlocked door at 11:40 a.m. Mr. Escalon said there was no armed guard at the school, contrary to previous reports, and Mr. Ramos encountered no opposition on his way in.

The first calls to police – about a car crash, and a man with a gun – came in around 11:30 a.m., Mr. Escalon said. It was about 14 minutes later, and within four minutes of Mr. Ramos’s entry to the school, that, according to Mr. Escalon’s account, local police arrived on the scene.

More cops and more guns can't fix catastrophic misjudgements like this, assuming it was a misjudgement and not just a convenient lie told to cover up the cowardice and incompetence of LE at the scene.
