100% agree that could be his motivation.
Although he is a dumbass anyway.

I remember when my mom had Alzheimers. She had some crazy ass thoughts that in her mind were perfectly logical.
    And it happened pretty quickly.

Logically, there should be a mental competency test run every year for high level politicians.
I would think the eventual expedience of making political hay of regular mental competency/psych workups would weigh against making it customary, jmo -- but the appeal of doing so is intuitive.

Perhaps from time to time, at certain set ages? Zeros and fives after sixty, inclusive?

I guess the main problem is that it would never be approved as a large portion of the people that would vote for this change might actually fail.
It's really ridiculous when you thing about the whole thing. We know that people's brains deteriorate, some quicker than others. No limits for Supreme Court Justices is ridiculous.
And to let someone like Trump even run again????

These mother ers are 70+. In real life, I don't know anyone that old that can run a country.
Meanwhile, I know about 20 younger rational people that could have probably done the job better than Trump. Or upcoming Biden.

Term limitation for Supreme Court Justices is a great idea. 18 years is a number that seems to be flying around lately.

Over time, it would also be possible to routinize Supreme Court appointments.

Would any of them have tried to run? You have to want to run the country.

The GOP has much the younger average face than the Dems. Gerontocracy blues.

18 years is way too long. We're talking about people than can change the country. I don't think it's too much to ask for a yearly evaluation. Although I understand that everyone agreeing to an "objective" test would be pretty impossible.

well...no...the group I mentioned would probably not want to run the country. Half due to pay and half due to the digging around in their .

Judges need to have long terms and need to be term limited so they can’t be re-elected or re-appointed. Look at Wisconsin’s Supreme Court, it almost ruled in favor of overturning the state’s results, reason being that they have elections to worry about and need to side with Trump s for their support.

The terms need to be long so you avoid the revolving door effect, a SCOTUS judge should be ready to retire when their term is over. You don’t want a SCOTUS justice gutting the EPA’s ability to combat climate change because he’s trying to lock up a job with Exxon Mobile when he’s up for “evaluation” next year.

Fine...but we're talking about people over 50 for the most part. What's the check for the fact that people's brains deteriorate over time?

No system is perfect, but my view is that judges who’s brains deteriorate is a more palatable risk than judges who aren’t impartial because they’re worried about what their next move is or how a ruling affects their re-election chances.

Not so sure why everyone thinks this is a package deal. Loeffler is much weaker candidate than Perdue just based on the 'campaigned with a Klansman' narrative. I'd be pretty surprised to see Ossoff win but wouldn't be too shocked to see Warnock send Loeffler's tired ass home.

Ossoff is much stronger than Warnock though, and I think a lot of the older Asian/Jewish women in suburban Atlanta are of the opinion “Ossoff is such a handsome young man but there’s something about that Warnock fella I just don’t like!”

Anyone know what channel is going to cover this Trump show rally other than Fox News?

Sounds like polls have Dems up by about 2% so I'll go with a GOP sweep by 8%

Trump actually started the rally off decent staying on message about the senate race, but he’s now quickly devolved into complaining about rigged elections.

Trump’s lost his entertaining touch. He’s just boring and washed up now.

The crowd (and myself) are falling asleep.

Every time he tries to make it about Loeffler or Perdue his voice loses all of its excitement, he’s incapable of talking about anyone other than himself or people he views as an enemy.
