Says who?????
My counterarguments:
1. The games they lost against the Thunder, except for one, were the games Bonner didn't play.
2. A lot of people on this board say what you said, about how in the playoffs they're not covering him (some, not you fortunately, rattle on about how it's because he's "scared," as if they somehow have magical insight into his brain). I disagree. You say I can see in on "game film," but I watched the games, and I didn't see this. They have to send out a big to cover him. He's a top-talent NBA 3 pointer. He'd hit open threes with ridiculous accuracy, >60%. They literally HAVE to have a body near him.
What they CAN (and did) do is back that body off a bit more than usual. I fully believe, and I think I'm agreeing with you on this point, that that is the best way to beat the Spurs. You have to choose between giving up a little in points in the paint or on the 3 pt. shot, and the wiser choice is give up a little on the 3 pt. shot.
Says who?????
There are definitely a high number of bad posters. I do consider you as one of the good ones, because despite your love for Bonner, you argue with reason and evidence. And I agree with Bonner being a big reason why we win during the regular season. But like many others, I am fed up with his lack of contributions come playoff time.
I think Bonner struggles so much because he is a one trick pony. The lack of diversity in his game is what really haunts him because teams have him so well scouted by playoff time. Therefore, I'm not sure he'll ever succeed at that level.
I have no idea how dallas did that. Brand and Kamaan ugh i'd love both on the spurs. Dallas have done a great freakin job this offseason.
Yep they went as a joke and losing Kidd, Terry and not getting Deron or Howard and done to somewhat recovering! They have not had the offseason they wanted at all, but they recovered somewhat with the guys they have gotten lately and been very active to be a playoff team no doubt.
No NBA team will win a championship with Bonner in the rotation. The sooner Pop realizes that the better.
Their are many one trick ponies out there, though none of them fail like Bonner. Bonner can only shoot when wide open, he can't shoot any other way, that is why I would even prefer Steve Novak over him. At least he has a proper stroke and can shoot in a few ways, rather than Bonner who can only shoot a 3 off a catch and shoot while wide open.
I'm pretty sure he's going to clear waivers. The minimum bid of $3M+/yr for 3 years scares off a lot of teams in the Howard hunt this year or the CP3 hunt next year. They don't want that on their cap for three years. If he clears, it's just a matter of him wanting to come, with Manu and Tiago likely talking to him about it this summer at the Olympics.
mavs won't do squat so who cares?
I think that is wild to say 3M for 3 years would scare teams off. It could happen, but Teams in the Howard/CP3 sweepstakes will need cheap contracts to fill out their rosters and 3M for Scola is the best you could possibly hope for from a known player.
SequSpur makes a good point.
That's only true in the regular season. In the playoffs they win despite him.
Yes he he said Spurs will get Scola! I have read other teams are interested so I would not bet on that by any means. He might be somewhere before teh Olympics BTW., Dallas already claimed Brand that quick.
There are still people defending Bonner here?
That'd be akin to a Lakerfan praising Kwame Brown or Smush Parker for years on end...
No.
Best means they were the best, not that some esoteric skill appraisal says they should have won.
The Thunder were the best. The best team backdoor swept the 2nd best team then got backdoor swept themselves by the best team in the league.
By your definition, the 2009 Arizona Cardinals were the best team in the NFC.
Mavs have stockpiled a bunch of 1yr contracts so they can make a splash next off-season. In Brand, Kaman, Collison and Jones, they haven't added even one difference-maker, just a bunch of average NBA players. I'll be surprised if they make the playoffs next season.
In his defense anyone can defend Bonner.
I would have liked Brand...OR to a lesser extent Kaman. However Brand AND Kaman? That didn't work in LA when both were much younger/better.
No the Nba zebras won the west.
Thank you who the cares about these guys. brand is Blair with a better jumper and gayman is always hurt and slow as .
Blair would be a pretty decent player if he had a jumper (and if he could remember how to rebound tbh). Instead he just has a weak floater.
