Oh yeah...finally go around to Green Room. Someone recommended it here.

Much better than it looks from the summary.

    7/10

I really liked Green Room. Blue Ruin, by the same director, is good as well. Nice slow burn.

    To the Bone-4/5

    Death Note-4/5

Both Netflix originals. Death Note is a much better version of Wish Upon but was based on a comic, IIRC pretty damn good and entertaining.

To the Bone is about an artist who struggles to overcome anorexia, well acted though it feels a little like Short Term 12 which is a much better movie without the eating disorder plot.

I checked out Blue Ruin. I think I actually liked it better than Green Room. You're right...slow burn is a good way to describe it.
Thought the acting was very good as well.

I just finished that a few minutes ago. I feel exactly the same. Kept waiting for the investigation to get started and be a part of the story. Good movie with a great cast but I was unsatisfied in the end.

    The Sword and the Dragon

Here we have a Russian fantasy flick from the mid 50's. A true classic and a must watch for ayone into heroic fantasy, without question a 10.

Annihilation from Alex Garland (28 days later and Ex Machina). A slow burn Sci fi film with outstanding visuals. The bear scene and the last 30 minutes are absolutely terrifying and outstanding. 8/10 for pacing and acting issues. If you liked Arrival, 2001, The Fountain, see this film.

    Brawl in Cell Block 99.

9/10. Brutal film. On Amazon Prime if you have that and want to watch.
    WTF.

I was excited to see this and watched it Saturday. Started off OK but became ridiculous.

Saw this last night. Went in with the understanding it could be really cheesy. But it was good for several laughs.

    Netflix movie Bright

They took a pretty interesting concept with solid characters and made it messy, low budget looking and predictable.

I thought Phantom Thread was pretentious as , and also dull. Disappointing since I'm a fan of PTA, but I haven't really been a fan of anything Day-Lewis has done since There Will Be Blood.

By far the worst of the BP nominees. 4/10

Yeah the movie in a bubble(no pun intended) was cool but the end was just strange. My buddy and I just looked at each other confused. I'll need to do some digging online and read some theories about it.

    Mute

Wow, Blade Runner looks a lot cleaner in Germany! Messy and ultimately meh plot. Doesn't go below the surface of any of the themes it could have; really shallow for a movie that long. Good acting for the most part especially by Paul Rudd with Trapper John facial hair. Moon references were cool but just reminded me how much better that movie was for so little money.

    5/10

I was just watching Mute last night, but only got about half way through. I didn't get him being Amish living in a big city being a bartender at a seedy night club.

Lol wow a trapper John reference.

Started watching On Body and Soul and had to turn it off because the movie was more interested in showing how to kill cattle in gruesome details then show what the movie was actually about.

Also people dreaming the same dream inside animals. WTF..

Well he was using zippers and buttons so i don't think he was Amish anymore.

Lol wow a trapper John reference.
I might go back and watch it with Cactus and Duck as time-displaced Trapper John and Pierce. This could change everything tbh.
